The historic Excelsior House Hotel located in downtown Jefferson Texas was built by riverboat captain William Perry. Currently owned and operated by the Jessie Allen Wise Garden Club the brick and timber structure has a total of 15 guest rooms each with period furniture. The ballroom and dining room each feature large french chandeliers and Oriental rugs. Marble mantels and two lovely pianos serve as a backdrop for the beautiful oil paintings and handsome antiques which are displayed throughout. Once the location of gala balls and joyful gatherings the dining room is the perfect setting to enjoy the Excelsiors famous Plantation breakfast. The adjoining courtyard with its elegant fountain and quiet alcoves is the frequent site of weddings ranging from quiet family services to elaborate ceremonies. Breakfast the only meal served daily may be reserved by hotel guests at checkin. For those who are not hotel guests reservations may be requested one day in advance and are subject to availability.
