The schools, Sunnyside
and Knox, were merged in 1921 as a district. An auditorium / gymnasium was added
in the 1920s. During the school consolidations in the late 40s, the district was
divided among Bovina, Lazbuddie and Farwell schools with the gymnasium becoming
a recreation center. It remains the nucleus of present-day Oklahoma Lane.

"This is the
former school. The larger structure on the right was a gym/auditorium; the structure
on the left was classrooms. There were older classrooms on the far right, but
they have been demolished and replaced with a tennis court. This structure is
a WPA project.
When the school closed in 1949, it was used a a community
center and was then converted into a Methodist church." |

"These former
classrooms are now used as Sunday School rooms at the church. Enrollment at the
church is declining; a good Sunday now brings about 30 worshippers.
The
former Baptist Church across the street has been converted into a residence."
