Central Texas Travel Guide

central Texas

South Central

Rich with revolutionary history, this region includes the begining (Gonzales) and the end (San Jacinto) of the Texas Revolution. San Felipe and Washington-on-the-Brazos are here as well on land that had originally been granted to Austin's Old 300. South Central Texas contains the bulk of Czech immigration descendants and a good deal of the German immigration descendants.

Drive from Houston to San Antonio on Old Highway 90 and it's easy to imagine what this drive was like in the 50s. Find out if Flatonia is really flat and count the schulen in Schulenburg.

North Central

From the Red River to the Little River, Wise County to Hunt. With all the diversions in Dallas/ Fort Worth - it's always a short drive to where the cities seem a thousand miles away. Only your odometer will know.

Visit the courthouses of Corsicana, Waxahachie, Hillsboro, Denton, and Decatur. See other exceptional ones at Weatherford, Belton, and Gatesville. The entire area is rich in Texas architecture. Hillsboro not only has their courthouse, but their jail and railroad station as well.
