ROSE, WILLIAM PINCKNEY
(1787-1850)

William Pinckney Rose, was born on April 24, 1787, in North Carolina.

In the War of 1812 he was the leader of a group of Louisiana militia who fought in the Battle of New Orleans (January 8, 1815). It was there he made friends with Thomas Scott – Wm. Thomas’ father.

In 1817, W.P. Rose married Mary Smith, a widow from St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana. They had nine children with an additional child from Mary’s first marriage. In 1839-40 the Rose and Scott families moved to what is now Harrison County.
