History on a Pinhead

Although no population figures are available for this tiny place, it did have a school, church and even a factory at one time. It was named for the deposits of slate along the Red River at this point – and most probably the factory was engaged in making roofing shingles.

Although there is no town center and the community dispersed, the name continues to be used on maps.
