History on a Pinhead

Although no population figures are available for this tiny place, it did have a school, church and even a factory at one time. It was named for the deposits of slate along the Red River at this point and most probably the factory was engaged in making roofing shingles.

Although there is no town center and the community dispersed, the name continues to be used on maps.
