History in
a Pecan Shell
The
date of first settlement is not known, but the community opened its
post office in 1876. In 1890 the population was still a mere 30 residents,
with businesses being listed as a gin, gristmill and store. In 1894
the post office closed its doors. Proximity to McKinney
may have curtailed growth, and by the 1930s, only a school, a church
and a few houses comprised St. Paul. The population increased slowly
over the decades and reached 150 in the 1970s, increasing to just
over 400 for the 1990 census, and 1,066 in 2010 |

Saint Paul
"Determing the boundries between the towns out here (see Collin
County, North
Central Texas) is almost impossible. St Paul is really just a
residential area. Assuming I got the boundries correct there's one
church off the main road, no businesses except at what might be the
northwest corner of town. I threw in a pic of an old barn/shed, the
rest I saw is homes." - Mike
