The Road Near the Elusive Community of Klump TE Photo, May 2010 |
History in a Pinhead
The community of Klump appears on some maps, but not on others. The name is from
a settling family. There was a Klump post office in operation from 1899 through
1903 with a Klump family member (Louis) as postmaster from the Fall of 1899 through
1900.
The land around Klump is today in cattle
and hay. Residents are totally dependent on Brenham
for all goods and services. There is no town center – only scattered residences
and an occasional business – usually agricultural in nature.

Note: Since the community of Klump wasn't found, we're including photos
from Bethlehem
Cemetery, which once served the region in the late 1800s and provides a panoramic
view of the Washington County
countryside. |
