The Sweet Union Church was Jacksonville's first Black Baptist Church. Originally located on what became the Jacksonville College campus in 1899, the church was moved to Main and Pine Streets in 1900.

The Frederick Douglass School c.1930 Built in 1922, the building was partial funded by the Rosenwald Foundation. After Integration, it was used for special education classes until it burned in the 1980s.
