History in a Pecan Shell

No 19th Century history. Oak Ridge North is a suburb of Houston developed in 1964. Oak Ridge North’s development coincided with the completion of Interstate 45, providing the community with an instant boost in population. It incorporated in 1979 when 2,445 residents were reported. The oil bust in the mid 1980s reduced growth and the population grew stagnant. The 1990 census reported just nine more residents than the 1979 figures.
