MY CONDITION

by David Knape

I have been diagnosed
as having a terrible disease
one that is so pervasive
people are reluctant to talk about it
and avoid bringing it up
for fear of embarrassing me
this condition is so overwhelming
that it affects everything I do
in one way or another
it is there lurking in the shadows
whether it's night or day
it never goes away
it is always in the back of my mind
yet I carry it with the understanding
that the condition is long term
so I have learned to accept it
and not be ashamed
although it seems to be worsening
I have adjusted to it
it is something I just have to live with
till the end of my days
I went back for a check-up just this week
and the doctor confirmed again
There is not
a serious bone In my body.
