WHITE HORSES
IN A DARKENED FIELD

by David Knape

White horses in
a darkened field
in silhouette
stand ever still

Phantoms in white
their presence yields
a ghostly sight
in darkened field

By chance we came
upon this sight
white horses in
the soft moonlight

Their image stays
on mind despite
long past white horses
in the night.
