History on a Pinhead
Thelma was established around 1900 with a post office being granted six years
later. The San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad arrived six years after that
and Thelma was made a stop.
From a population of 300 in 1914, it declined
to just 25 people by 1940 and in the early 1990s it was designated “a dispersed
rural community.” Forty-five people were enumerated for the 2000 Census, insuring
that Thelma is still remembered for now. | |
