Monahans' Metal Sculptures

Monahans, Texas

One of the more interesting changes in Monahans since its designation as a Main Street City in 1997 is also a subtle one. It's the installation of what is sometimes referred to as "metal art" on street signs and selective city buildings. The results might have been very different had there not been a master-plan, or if the quality of workmanship was low. As it is, the visitor is immediately made aware of the cooperative attitude and pride of Monahanians and it's difficult for a visitor not to drive out of their way just to see what's on the next sign.

The Main Street City Project and Monahans' Metal Sculptures

Monahan's Main Street Project Manager, Suzi Blair tells us that the signs were donated by individual Monahan citizens and the Dunagan Foundation.

The city is just 22,000 dollars short of having invested one million dollars back into business development, beautification and preservation since they were designated a Main Street City in 1997.

Ms. Blair is the original Main Street Project Manager and we appreciate her help in preparing Monahan's Town Page.
