History in a Pecan Shell

The site had been used as a market for selling horses prior to the Civil War. Rancher G.A. Rabb settled here in the 1880s, providing the place with a name. Growth (if anyone considered it happening) was glacial. Still, a store and 10 residents materialized by the mid-1930s. By the time WWII had ended (1945), there were forty people living here and a second business had been added. Before the end of that decade, the population was halved. Things remained quiet for decades but the population remained at 20 for the 1990 census. Ten years later, the 2000 census arrived and no one was surprised by the count of 20 residents - the last year available to us.
