"Before this courthouse was built in 1922, the county government was housed in the 1917 courthouse in Sarita, then the county seat of Willacy County. When Kenedy County was organized in 1921, the boundaries of Willacy County were redrawn and the county seat was moved to Raymondville. The 1917 courthouse in Sarita then became the Kenedy County courthouse." - Terry Jeanson
