"Most Likely to Be Removed from the Class Photo"

In the first photo above - the boy with the simian posture appears to be addressing the photographer who one might assume is also the teacher. Whatever was said is now lost - but whatever it was - it was enough to get him removed from the picture. The other students appear familiar with his antics and their "don't want to get involved" expressions are evident that the boy is well-known. Not popular perhaps, but certainly well-known.

In photo two - these expressions turn into smirks, grimaces, closed eyes, empathy and just plain enjoyment. Whatever was going on off-camera proves that there was at least two adults present. It might be grounds for a lawsuit today - but those were unenlightened times when discipline was swift and lessons weren't always taught from books. Our thanks to Nelda Crews for sharing these two photos that paint a picture worth far more than their proverbial two thousand words. - Editor
