Bonnie Parker's Alma Mater
Eagle Ford District 49 School

Bonnie Parker Alma Mater, Texas
Photographer's Note:
Thumbing through my photos, I came across this one of Bonnie Parker's school. The school, once known as "Eagle Ford District 49", is on private property just east of the boundary between Grand Prairie and Dallas. From what I read on the Internet, the fellow who owns it found Bonnie Parker's (and other's) report cards in the basement. I took the photo not knowing the significance of the building. I just thought it was an eye-catching old relic out here in the country. Only after I got home and looked it up on the Internet did I read about the Bonnie Parker connection. One intriguing feature of the design is that the boys and girls are given separate entrances. The boys entered the building at the north end (to the right in the pic) and the girls entered at the south end. Maybe I'm pushing my powers of perspicacity, but my guess is that the girls were given the courtesy of entering the building from the south end to avoid chilly north winds. - William Holmes, Arlington, Texas, April 01, 2007
