in a Pecan Shell
McLeod, located in the Rodessa oilfield had been known as Good
Exchange until the mid-1930s, when the oilfield was developed.
The TXDoT maps of Cass County still use the name Good Exchange for
the cemetery. The community's post office was granted in May of 1937.
By 1939 there were nine business, two churches and a school in McLeod.
The population in 1945 was 150, declining to a mere 50 by 1970, a
figure that has remained constant from 1974 to the present. |
