History on
a Pinhead
Settled in the 1850s, a post office was opened under the name Prairie,
Texas in 1857 and managed to stay open until 1872. A school opened sometime
before 1897.
The town's history has been uneventful and by the time the
Great Depression arrived, there was only a church, school and scattered houses.
The school merged with Lovelady after WWII,
and by the mid-1960s only the cemetery remained. |
