COMAL RIVER, page 1
Camp Warnecke

Camp Warnecke is an old-fashioned family resort. A screened pavilion is cooled by water, which trickles down the metal roof. A small dam on the river creates a nice swimming space with rapids for tubing, and the current is strong enough to bring you almost full circle at the dam. There is a bathhouse and cabins. No lifeguard is on duty.

Update on Camp Warnecke:

Schlitterbahn purchased part of the land; modern condos sit on the rest of the site. Too bad.

Landa Park is still as beautiful as ever and so are the Comal Springs and the Comal River. - Francis Davis, February 21, 2001

Cypress Bend Park
Cypress Bend is a nice little park on the Guadalupe River at the end of Peace Avenue, across from the fairgrounds. It's a shady park with picnic areas, a playground and swimming in the Guadalupe River.
