Big Foot

by David Knape
Words are
mountain mysteries
to which I love
to go

Captured in
brief moments
tracks in
poetic snow

Broken limbs
poetic whims
left from some
hidden beast

The whitened bones
of devoured poems
left from some
movable feast

Yet words
can be elusive
just a shadow
on a lens

And clues of
something larger
leaves me searching
till the end.

About this poem: The author is trying to describe a writer's search for the right words. The poet's struggle to write a poem is sometimes as elusive as Big Foot.
