was his given name
he rode the fair
to statewide fame

When his wires got crossed
went up in flames
burnt to a crisp
then down he came

Now all of Big Tex
is contained
in a paper sack
a cryin' shame

But Big Tex
in our heart remains
a legend in Texas'
hall of fame.
