Planting Poems

by David Knape

A farmer tends
to love his work,
how tenderly
he tends the earth

Crops are chosen
which grow best,
the ones he picks
yield most success

Like the farmer
writers know,
they have only
words to sow

Prudently planted
fruit will come,
how wise the poet
planting poems.
