History in a Pecan
Shell
Settled in the late 1800s, little of Oaks history has been recorded.
Population figures are not available – past or present. The town no longer appears
on the state map. Resident children once attended the “County Line School” which
has since disappeared. The town’s population declined as people left for more
lucrative job opportunities after WWII.
The town has long been listed as “a dispersed community.”
