Waco Steel Bridge view from Vietnam Memorial
A recent view of the Steel Bridge from the Vietnam Memorial grounds

Built in 1902, the Waco Steel Bridge was billed as the longest single span bridge in the world.

Considerably shorter than the Suspension Bridge, nonetheless, it was first in its own category and as such was the subject of postcards.

The South side of the bridge is now the site for the Vietnam War Memorial - listing the 64 Wacoans and McLennan Countians who lost their lives in Vietnam.

Message: Dear Edmond, I was glad to have such a good school report of you and I trust that your conduct at home is also an A. This is one of the fine bridges that connect the two parts of Waco. It crosses the Brazos River. - Dad
