History in a Pecan Shell

Farmer C. A. Knott is the namesake of both East and West Knott. The two towns had a population of 200 in 1928 and by 1931 there was a post office in Knott.

Once famed for its watermelons, the population of Knott was 350 in 1947. It peaked at 685 in the 1960s - and the same number has been used ever since.
