History in a Pecan Shell

Named Clalkton in 1926 after the rancher who owned the land where the oil discovery was made, Chalkton was a boom town - for awhile.

Both the town and post office changed their names to Otis Chalk in 1939.

Shortly after WWII, Otis Chalk had fifty residents which has since increased to 79.
