Badger used to be on the Missouri Pacific Railroad tracks (formerly the Texas and Pacific) in 1926.

The population reached 200 during its heyday, but according to the Handbook of Texas, the population decreased to only 40 by 1940 and the town never fully developed as a permanent town.
