History in a Pecan Shell

When oil was discovered three miles south of the town, New Diana was formed when residents moved there.

Diana had its own school, a store, and a church. New Diana prospered but in the mid-1960s people started refering to the town as just plain Diana. By this time another church had been added along with a few more stores. By 1990 Diana had an estimated population of 200.

Photographer's Note:
"I have only two pictures which are of two churches and one ultra modern. There is much more there but all is modern urban places with one five line high speed highway among other streets and highways. I went there a second time on May 22, 2012 to make sure there was nothing historical there and there wasn’t." - Gerald Massey
