1889: A.L. Rhomberg donates land for townsite and names it Latin for
"Rough Mountain"
1898: Becomes county seat in a contested fight with Rayner
1900: Courthouse construction begins - population is 400
1909: Incorporation and railroad comes through (the Stamford and Northwestern
Railway)
1920: Population reduced back to 1900 level due to WWI
1940s: Oil discovered
1965: Hospital built
1980: Population reached all time high of 1,357
