History on a Pinhead

Originally settled in the 1870s, the community is said to have once been considered as a site for the Tom Green county courthouse. There is, however, no proof of the town being platted and no deeds appear to show ownership. It is thought that the population consisted of squatters who used the well-established Lone Wolf bridge as a convenient entrance into town. The site has since been absorbed by San Angelo and no longer appears on maps.

The Lone Wolf Bridge

The original 19th century bridge at the crossing was replaced by one in 1922 that could accommodate automobiles. A flood in September of 1936 left many bodies at the bridge site and the area has attracted the interest of paranormal investigations, whose findings could be called “inconclusive.”
