While
before and after photos
always provide a nice contrast, seeing a restoration in progress can be very educational.
Propinquity allows us to bring you these snapshots of J. Reily Gordon’s Fayette
County Courthouse as the exterior work nears completion. The scheduled
completion date is a mystery. Spring and summer rains, besides producing a miniature
forest of Pecan tree sprouts, delayed work for many days. Depending on
whom you talk to - the completion date is October, November or December of 2004. |

The JRG courthouse
in neighboring Lee County has been finished recently as well as the Hopkins County
Courthouse in Sulphur Springs. We will check with Fayette County elected
officials to see if we can get some shots of the twin grotesques halfway up the
clock tower. © John Troesser
