History in a Pecan
Shell
In
1905 in anticipation of the arrival of the Texas Central Railroad, a town named
Bonita was planed. A school opened under the name of Fairview but
when the railroad arrived and a post office was applied for, the submitted name
was Tuxedo.
Tuxedo had a bright future but a devastating fire in 1912
destroyed most of the town. The population was just forty by 1915 which increased
to 55 by 1940. It was reported as 42 in 1980 and remained there through the 2000
census. |
